Winner of the 2022 artist residency "Artifex in Horto", Clémentine Pellegrin designed the textile installation Étendre la couleur for the Jardin des Cimes in Passy (Haute-Savoie). The piece, which accompanies the viewer beyond the garden, takes place at the foot of the new space of tinctorial plants, called chromatic garden. The colors chosen are borrowed from plants used for textile dyeing: Millepertuis yellow, elder green, hollyhock violet, symphorine burgundy, as well as the light gray of glaciers. The fabrics are suspended from structures similar to those used to dry dyed yarns in Asia. As the relief changes, the textiles follow one another in the manner of a landscape, opening up a new perspective on the Mont Blanc.
Lauréate 2022 de la résidence Artifex in Horto, Clémentine Pellegrin conçoit sur mesure pour le Jardin des Cimes à Passy (Haute-Savoie), l'installation textile Étendre la couleur. L’œuvre qui accompagne le regard au delà du jardin, prend place au pied du nouvel espace de plantes tinctoriales, appelé jardin chromatique. Les couleurs choisies sont empruntées aux plantes utilisées pour la teinture textile : jaune millepertuis, vert sureau, violet trémière, bordeaux symphorine, ainsi qu’au gris léger des glaciers. Les tissus sont suspendus à des structures similaires à celles utilisées pour faire sécher les fils teints en Asie. Au gré du relief, les plans se succèdent à la manière d’un paysage, ouvrant une nouvelle perspective sur la chaîne du Mont-Blanc.
